Sigulda is one of the most popular destinations for campervan travellers in Latvia. Here you will find many places and activities that will fit every need. If you are looking for a relaxing experience you will probably want to visit Gauja National Park, which offers several boating and hiking routes. There are many spectacular sights, such as Velnalas cave, Paradise Hill or Keizarkresls. There are attractions to suite active travellers as well. There are special routes for cycling as well as adventure parks Tarzan or Mezakakis. If you are looking for more adventurous experience you can try bungee jumping from Sigulda air tram, Aerodium air tunnels or ride through Sigulda bobsleigh track.
Campsites in Latvia
There are many campsites in Latvia to choose from. Some are more expensive, some are in a wild nature, every traveller can find one, that fits their needs best. When traveling to Ventspils, we recommend you a very nice camping ‘’Priejūras‘‘, which is situated in a park area. It is only 5 minutes’ walk from the seaside and 2km from the centre of Ventspils. If you like calm places you can choose another campsite ‘’Mikelbaka’’, which is 40km away from Ventspils and is just by the seaside.
If you are planning to visit Jurmala, we recommend you a ‘’Lielupe’’ campsite. It is situated near the river Lielupe and is 800 meters away from the seaside. There is another beach near the river in this campsite, so you would not even need to go anywhere if you want to have a lazy day. However if you like the seaside better, you can choose from two more campsites ‘’Jurmala’’ or ‘’Nemo’’. Both of them are very close to the sea, have reasonable prices and comfortable facilities for the visitors.
When in Riga, you will have quite few options to choose from. Most of the tourist attractions are in the centre of Riga, so it is very convenient to stay in the campsite ‘’Riga City’’, from where you will be able to reach Rigas Old City and shops by foot.
For those who choose to continue their trip towards Estonia, we suggest campsite ‘’Apalkans’’, which is surrounded by very beautiful nature in national Gaujas park. And last but not least, for those who like wild nature and empty seaside’s, we recommend to visit campsite ‘’Krimalnieki’’. This camping is in a small town Tuja just by the sea. It is not easy to find it, because you have to go through small villages, which have very narrow roads, but it is worth it – you will be surprised by the beauty of nature, this camping will offer.
